Its been a while since the last blog post. Some of it is from being busy, but some of it is from just forgetting to come in and update things.
2018 has been an interesting year so far with the weather and drought. We've had some hardships with the broilers because of the heat and dry conditions. We've really kind of struggled to get chickens to market this year, so please bear with us. If all goes well, we should have a run ready for market by the early part of October. Hopefully there will be enough to justify cutting up, so we can get back to offering breasts, tenders, quarters, and wings to you.
We just made the transition to certified organic feed for our laying flock this week. We're excited to be able to source most of our feeds from Slaton, TX. Our broilers will be getting switched over to organic feed about midway through the current batch of birds that we just started. We're still working through our last order of non-gmo, non-soy feed.
As we are barreling through 2018, we're excited for the prospects of having pork as an offering starting in 2019. We've been raising KuneKune pigs for about a year, and we're getting going on having some moving towards processing. Depending on how everything goes, we should have some pork available starting next fall.
Thank you for checking out the latest, and we're hoping to be a bit more consistent with keeping this updated moving forward.
